o Stereotypes today are becoming a normal and more obvious thing. In a school setting most teenagers judge and chose who they hang out with according to what they look like and what sports or different things they are into. “Stereotype means a simply standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common members of a group.” Stereotyping teaches people to judge, place, and arrange people in different groups. Stereotypes can be negative or positive and can be based on such things like nationalities, sports, ethnic backgrounds, and beliefs. Some examples of stereotypes are nerds, jocks, hipsters, band geeks and the popular crowd. In my opinion people should stop judging others based on stereotypes made by society before meeting someone and they should get to know them before judging. But saying that doesn't mean it’s going to happen; No one as an individual can stop stereotypes the only thing we can do is lead by example and hope others follow to turn our society into a place free of stereotypes where people are accepted for who they are.

"Perfect"
o In today’s world girls are shown brutally in media. To be in most fashion magazines you have to have what’s called the perfect body, being too skinny for your own good, which isn’t setting a good or healthy example for the young girls of our society. Now starting from such a young age girls are very unsure and self-conscious about their bodies and they think they need to be “perfect”. By telling our young girls that their body should be a certain way our society has caused eating disorders to increase rapidly over that past years. Statistics show that up to 20% of people with eating disorders will die and today eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses. In my opinion we need to set a positive role model for the young girls of today’s world; we should teach them that looks aren’t the most important thing and you don’t need to be “stick” skinny, you just need to be healthy. We should stop photo-shopping the pictures in magazines and we should start using women and girls of all different body types to show them that there isn’t just one perfect body type.
