Women < Men

Sexism is the discrimination against a certain gender or sexual preference. One of the most common ways sexism is displayed in the media is through degrading women and marginalizing their rights, and the glass ceiling effect. The glass ceiling is the metaphorical barrier between men and women in corporations and other organizations. The glass ceiling is defined as an invisible limitation that doesn’t allow women to ever be as high up in corporations as men. In the media they use advertisements, TV and other media devices to display the glass ceiling effect. A statics I found on the internet said that at the current rate of increase, it will take 475 years (until 2466) before women are as equally represented at the top of the career ladder as they are at the bottom, This might not seem like it has much to do with media but it does; If the media was to promote women’s rights and stop all sexism shown in TV and advertisements this static would drop drastically and would probably take less than half the time. I think to make the media realize this is wrong we need to first stop it in society and show them that it is not acceptable.  With all this being said It is not only men and the media that is at fault for this, it is women too, women need to stand up for themselves to make a change.  There is no reason men are better than women and there is no reason women are better than men. We are all people. We are all equal.
