My personal definition of a mash-up is a song created through the use of other artist’s songs. I think mash-ups are a new form of music that is becoming more and more popular throughout our generation. In today’s world it’s hard to come up with new music that still entertains the youth and is completely new. In all realty no song is truly unique if you take out the words and listen to the beat you can find a song that has a beat very similar so what’s the difference? At least the artist making mash-ups are showing the audience where they got it from and not pretend they made it. In my opinion mash-ups are fun and entertaining and should be legal as long as the artist creating the mash-up is giving credit where credit is due. I think most of the people who are against mash-ups are just looking strictly at the fame and money that can come from creating them, which shouldn’t be important. Music should be about the music and trying to portray a certain image or feeling to the listener, it should be about the actual music itself; not about the money.
This is a Mash-Up of some songs I like that were mashed into one to create one new song...

ok interesting ideas. I wonder if 1D and Justin Bieber were put in a mashup with some heavy metal artist would that make justin and 1Ds music better? or would it make it worse? So why would the artists want there music to be in mashups if it potentially made there music worse? So I think that they should be illegal unless the artists came together and agreed that is was able to be mass produced if it was good enough.
ReplyDeletemaybe you ahve apoint there grady, maybe the artist involved have to say its okay to use there song in the mashup. the only thing is that eveyone likes different music, just look at lindsey and angus. or anyone else in the class. why should it be one persons decition weather something someone else might love be aloud or not?
